Finding out what’s happening in your neighborhood usually means sifting through Instagram posts, TikTok videos or word-of-mouth tips. Social platforms designed around algorithms and sponsored content often prioritize what’s trending citywide over what’s happening close to home. A new app, in-yc, takes a different approach by plotting local events directly on a map. Users can see what’s nearby in real time, from a jazz trio playing at Lowlands to heavy metal karaoke at Lucky 13 to a pop-up art show a few blocks away. The goal is simple: cut through digital clutter and make it easy to discover the events that shape neighborhood culture.
