My Need to Talk About This Minimalist Red Hook Duplex

The Zillow listing that resonated so deeply, I spoke with the developer and staging studio responsible for its appeal.

One of my favorite things to do, as seen in this (raunchy) 2021 SNL skit, is window shop on Zillow and StreetEasy. I am almost as active on these apps as I am on Instagram, which feels a little absurd because I don’t currently have millions of dollars lying around. Still, in between my feeding and sleeping hours, I find myself on the couch, double-chinning, filtering and swiping.

Recently, I came across this Zillow listing for a five-bedroom, four-bathroom duplex in Red Hook. Arched windows offset by terracotta blocks. Multiple terraces. Minimalist designer furniture. Heated floors! I texted the listing to my husband with the same urgency I have when something is malfunctioning. The apartment’s $3,750,000 price tag says “luxury,” but what spoke to me was the carefully considered architectural design and the curated staging.
