- Neighborhood icon Vincenzo “Vinnie” Pampillonia, who founded Vinnie’s Italian Art Ironworks in Cobble Hill in 1964, passed away this month on Oct. 7. “He filled his days with music, opera, travel, novellas, western films, and laughter, but nothing brought him more joy than his work — a lifelong expression of pride and purpose,” according to his obituary. 
- In Halloween news, Carroll Park’s Children’s Halloween Fest is today from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Urban Meadow Community Garden’s annual Halloween parade is tomorrow, Oct. 26. Insa is hosting a Halloween Open Mic on Thursday, Oct. 30. The Atlantic Ave Business Improvement District is crafting a trick-or-treat route on Hoyt and Atlantic, while PKLYN is holding open plays and a costume contest, both Friday, Oct. 31. 
- Mexico In My Pocket founder Luisa Navarro is hosting a book signing at Liz’s Book Bar on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Also at Liz’s: a short story workshop on Thursday, Oct. 30. 
- Movement Room and Heyday Cobble Hill are offering workouts and mini facials on Wednesday, Oct. 29. 
- White men across the city stock their fridges with labneh from Carroll Gardens, according to Iris Bahr’s satirical piece for The New Yorker. 
- Third Time’s the Charm, a new pizza spot from hospitality group Bad Cholesterol, opened in Red Hook on Friday. Menu highlights include a White Lotus Season 2 pizza and chicken nuggets with gochu dip. 
- F&F Pizzeria threw an open house for its brand-new Pittsburgh location earlier this week.
