What Happened to Via Roma?
The longtime Court Street pizzeria closed abruptly this year, leaving behind a handwritten warning.
For a decade, Via Roma Pizza Bar was a Court Street constant, known for reasonably priced, no-frills pies without the lines or hype of Baby Luc’s or F&F. Then, a few months ago, it went dark without warning. A handwritten sign appeared first: “Permanently Closed.” Soon after, a second, more unsettling message appeared: “Do Not Enter Danger.”
According to a source who spoke with CSJ on background, the closure was far from abrupt.
